Resource Recruiter


My Sister’s Garden is seeking a Resource recruiter who will seek in-kind donations (such as household goods, clothing, food, office supplies) from area businesses, other non profits and individuals. These donations will benefit My Sister’s Garden program participants and the organization as a whole. This volunteer is a member of the Fundraising Committee. In addition to the initiative and ideas of the Resource Recruiter, staff, board members and program participants will provide a list of requested/required items. 

Time Commitment: 5.5 hours per month.

While the time commitment will vary, the Resource Recruiter is expected to attend Fundraising Committee meetings approximately monthly for approximately one hour. Developing a pool of donors will comprise two hours per month. Seeking donations for a specific need is an additional two hours per month. Communication with others in the organization is expected to require another 30 minutes per month.

Volunteer Skills and Abilities

The Resource Recruiter should:

  • Believe in the mission of My Sister’s Garden

  • Feel comfortable asking donors to participate in our important work

  • Exhibit professionalism and respect in written and verbal communication

  • Creatively identify potential donors

  • Possess basic computer ability to manage a database of donors, donations and email communication.

  • Transportation and the ability to pick up donated items is a plus. 


Bookkeeper


My Sister’s Garden is seeking a volunteer to manage the day to day donations and expenses of the organization. The Bookkeeper will receive notifications of donations via our platforms and record them in our electronic bookkeeping software. The Bookkeeper will receive receipts for approved expenses and file them electronically and notify the Treasurer for payment. The Bookkeeper will be a member of the Finance Committee.

Time Commitment:  6  hours per month.

While the time commitment will vary, the Bookkeeper is expected to attend Finance Committee meetings approximately monthly for approximately one hour. Capturing donation notification and entering them in the general ledger will take one to two hours per month. Communication with others in the organization is expected to require another hour per month. Billing and applying payments to invoices is a task that will be needed in the next year; this process is estimated to take two hours per month.

The Bookkeeper should:

  • Believe in the mission of My Sister’s Garden

  • Possess basic computer ability to make ledger entries in bookkeeping software

  • Have basic bookkeeping and accounts receivable knowledge 

  • Exhibit professionalism and respect  in written and verbal communication


Social Media Manager


My Sister’s Garden is seeking a volunteer Social Media Manager to create an online presence for our organization. This volunteer will post positive information about the success and development of My Sister’s Garden on facebook and develop a network of connections with other like minded organizations via facebook. The Social Media Manager will use a resource book to any questions about the organization and refer any requests for services to the Program Chair. The Social Media Manager will make recommendations and develop plans to develop the Social Media marketing plan for My Sister’s Garden. The Social Media Manager is a member of the Marketing Committee. 

Time Commitment:  5  hours per month.

The Social Media Manager is expected to attend Marketing Committee meetings approximately monthly for approximately one hour.  Finding and following organizations on facebook is expected to take two hours per month. Creating and posting updates weekly will take one hour per month. Responding to posts and communicating with others in the organization is expected to take one hour a month. 

The Social Media Manager should:

  • Feel comfortable with the mechanics of Facebook

  • Exhibit professionalism and respect in written and verbal communication
